Position Overview
The Business Development Manager will play a pivotal role in identifying, developing, and capturing new business opportunities in the SBIR/STTR arena. This role requires previous experience in the SBIR (Phases I, II, and II) contracting space. The ideal candidate will be a proactive self-starter with a proven ability to secure and sustain client relationships within the public sector both FedCiv and DoD markets.
 Responsibilities
  • Develop market strategies and establish a supporting qualified pipeline, create and track schedules, and report progress to Growth Director
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate opportunity and customer information within the enterprise CRM/Pipeline systems.
  • Effectively conveys our message in both written and verbal business development discussions.
  • Develop external relationships with current and future government customers and industry partners through strategic outreach and communication plans.
  • Deliver engaging, informative, well-organized presentations; regularly attend client meetings, trade shows, conferences, etc.
  • Build strong relationships with government clients, teaming partners, and other stakeholders to influence opportunity requirements and positioning.
  • Assist in the development of high-quality proposals, including writing, reviewing, and ensuring compliance with RFP requirements.
  • Liaison with current Contracting Officers; assist with communication flow, resolve issues, identify needs and translate Government goals.
Job Requirements
  • Up to 20% Travel
  • 5+ years proven experience in Federal business development, sales, or related roles
  • Specific experience with SBIR/STTR contract vehicles and moving from Phase I to phase III which involves commercializing the innovation developed during Phase I and II,
  • In-depth knowledge of government contracting processes, including RFPs, RFQs, IDIQ & BPA contracts, and compliance requirements
  • Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) for tracking leads and managing pipelines.
  • Strong command of productivity tools like Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Cursory understanding of Data Analytics and Mining of Structured and Unstructured Data
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, sales, or a related field
