Federal Business Development Manager - SBIR Corporate Headquarters - Northern VA (Remote) Position Overview The Business Development Manager will play a pivotal role in identifying, developing, and capturing new business opportunities in the SBIR/STTR arena. This role requires previous experience in the SBIR (Phases I, II, and II) contracting space. The ideal candidate will be a proactive self-starter with a proven ability to secure and sustain client relationships within the public sector both FedCiv and DoD markets. Responsibilities
Develop market strategies and establish a supporting qualified pipeline, create and track schedules, and report progress to Growth Director
Maintain up-to-date and accurate opportunity and customer information within the enterprise CRM/Pipeline systems.
Effectively conveys our message in both written and verbal business development discussions.
Develop external relationships with current and future government customers and industry partners through strategic outreach and communication plans.
Build strong relationships with government clients, teaming partners, and other stakeholders to influence opportunity requirements and positioning.
Assist in the development of high-quality proposals, including writing, reviewing, and ensuring compliance with RFP requirements.
Liaison with current Contracting Officers; assist with communication flow, resolve issues, identify needs and translate Government goals.
Job Requirements
Up to 20% Travel
5+ years proven experience in Federal business development, sales, or related roles
Specific experience with SBIR/STTR contract vehicles and moving from Phase I to phase III which involves commercializing the innovation developed during Phase I and II,
In-depth knowledge of government contracting processes, including RFPs, RFQs, IDIQ & BPA contracts, and compliance requirements
Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) for tracking leads and managing pipelines.
Strong command of productivity tools like Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
Cursory understanding of Data Analytics and Mining of Structured and Unstructured Data
Educational Requirements Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, sales, or a related field
